BIO

Luke Clerkin is a force in the Irish music scene, celebrated for his euphoric live performances, emotionally resonant music, and unwavering dedication to his craft. Launching his career with an extraordinary feat of playing over 250 gigs in 2015, Luke has since gained international recognition through extensive touring, festival appearances, and chart-topping singles. His relentless drive and passion for music continue to propel him forward, with no signs of slowing down. Throughout his career, Luke has graced the stages of major festivals like Electric Picnic, Body & Soul, Stendhal, and the Edinburgh Free Fringe. He has headlined prominent venues across Ireland, including Whelan’s, The Workman’s Club, The Cobblestone, Kilkenny’s Hole in the Wall, and John Lee’s in Tullamore. His international reach extends to multiple tours in Germany, and he has participated in significant Irish tours with The Circle Sessions and Cycle Against Suicide.

A two-time winner of the Sports and Cultural Council songwriting competition, Luke has earned the support of industry veterans, including Luke Concannon of Nizlopi, who has become a mentor and friend. Luke’s music, crafted in collaboration with renowned producers like Declan Legge, Gavin Doyle, and Berlin’s jaako, has been widely featured on national radio and television. His work has caught the attention of major outlets like Hot Press, RTÉ, Indie Buddie, and Golden Plec. His songs have received airplay on RTÉ Radio One, BBC, Spin 1038, Spin South West, KCLR, FM104, and Today FM, among others. His chart and streaming successes include topping the Irish Singer-Songwriter Charts multiple times and being featured on Spotify's Editorial Playlist 'A Breath of Fresh Eire.'

Luke's influence extends beyond music. Drawing from his personal experiences with mental health struggles, he has become a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness. He has organised suicide prevention protests and rallies throughout Ireland under the banner of Action for Suicide Prevention and has collaborated with mental health charities such as Teen-Line Ireland, Cycle Against Suicide, Jigsaw, and Grow Mental Health. His advocacy work has earned him appearances on RTÉ News, BBC News, and The Claire Byrne Show on RTÉ One, as well as interviews on radio stations like 2FM, SPIN, and Newstalk. Luke’s efforts have been recognized with awards, including the Rotary Young Citizen Award and the Credit Union Chapter 25 Young Volunteer Award. Recently, he has expanded his advocacy into corporate settings, delivering talks at Gas Networks Ireland and facilitating mental health and songwriting workshops for organisations like South Dublin Libraries, Crosscare, Threshold Training Network and The Irish Youth Music Awards. He is currently working with primary school students and teachers across three different schools in Dublin West as part of the Teach Artist Partnership (TAP+ Initiative).
